Kurt Vonnegut and novelist Joseph Heller were once allegedly at a party hosted by a billionaire hedge fund manager. Vonnegut mentioned that their wealthy host made more money in one day than Heller ever made from his novel Catch-22.
Heller responded: "Yes, but I have something he will never have:enough."
Whether it's true or not, I've always thought this to be one of the smartest finance stories ever told.
All throughout college, I had one career plan: investment banking. The industry was attractive to me, and thousands of other students blinded by a lack of life experience, for one reason: You can make a lot of money. Six figures right out of school, and millions later in your career.
There's just one catch. Your life becomes abjectly miserable.
One-hundred-hour work weeks, the most pressure you've ever experienced, and less exposure to sunlight than death row inmates. They had a saying: "If you don't come to work on Saturday, don't bother coming back on Sunday." The senior bosses were worth millions, but stressed, overweight, anxious, never saw their kids, and hadn't taken a vacation in years -- I'm unfairly generalizing, but only slightly. Almost no one actually enjoys it. I quickly cried uncle, moved on, and never looked back.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Hilary Kramer]
Itau Unibanco (ITUB): A lot of investors have never heard of Itau because it’s headquartered in Brazil, but it’s one of the world’s largest financial institutions. With 5,000 branches, 100,000 employees and nearly $500 billion in assets (yes, half a trillion!), ITUB is not just the largest Latin American bank, it is one of the biggest in the world. With proven dominance in Brazil (and Latin America), Itau Unibanco is a go-to financial pick, and it currently yields an attractive 3.5%. I recently recommended that my Inner Circle readers sell ITUB on a nice bounce due to the risk of near-term weakness on economic data out of China, but I already looking for an opportunity to get back in.

Cencosud is one of the largest retailers in Latin America. It operates grocery stores, home improvement stores and department stores in five countries including Chile, its home base. Its stock is down 51% over the past year for several reasons, including a deal falling through that would have seen it sell 51% of its credit card operations in Chile and Argentina to Itau Unibanco (ITUB) and using the proceeds to reduce its heavy debt load. Add to that a major devaluation of the peso in Argentina, where it generates a quarter of its overall revenue, and you have investors in a full-on panic.

According to a report by Bloomberg, financial services giant Bank of America Corp (BAC) is looking into acquiring a Russian lender as a way to enter the corporate lending market in the country.
If the deal were to go down, Bank of America would double the size of its staff in Russia to 180 people. A year ago, BAC cut its staff in Moscow due to lower trading volume and increased competition in the country.
In connection with this report, Bank of America was said to have hired metals and mining analyst Andrey Lobazov and oil and gas analyst Denis Derushkin from Alfa Bank.

Few regional banking stocks in the U.S. today cost more than BB&T (NYSE: BBT ) stock. Indeed, the stock's biggest distinguishing factor is probably its priciness. Valued at 14.1 times trailing earnings, shares of BB&T cost 14% more than bigger rival US Bancorp (NYSE: USB ) , and 33% more than smaller Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ: FITB ) . But is there a good reason for investors to pay up for BB&T stock?
